I teach two lectures on the Year 1 Applied Psychology module. Ostensibly, the topic is Human-Machine Interaction, but I prefer to take a wider look at issues in applied psychology and information design. The first lecture covers the basics and the second takes a close look at schematic maps as a way of understanding what applied psychology can achieve and its potential limitations.
Basic Concepts and Principles
In what ways can psychology be applied to improve the world? Background: ergonomics, human-machine interaction, human-computer interaction, information design and data visualisation. Basic usability principles
